[00:00:22] Speaker A: Odyssey. We are an unofficial DND podcast and we play dungeons and dragons but we edit a lot so hopefully you'll enjoy it more. Don't forget to leave us a rating and review. Let's get into it. Last time on carrots and suffering, Boulain confronted her ex to try to get some information on their assailants financial backer and the ods of them buying their way out of this assassination problem. But it does not go great. [00:00:48] Speaker B: I am so happy you finding your self fulfillment in your den of misery and loneliness. Listen, my friends and I, you have probably caught wind because you always do of underground things that there is a contract out on us. [00:01:05] Speaker A: Okay? [00:01:06] Speaker B: As in yes, you have heard this? [00:01:09] Speaker A: I believe it, but I have not heard it specifically yet. [00:01:12] Speaker B: So you have no idea how much it is for or how many people would be interested? [00:01:16] Speaker A: I didn't say that. Xeris has a heart to heart where he confesses his warlocking with Creedon. [00:01:22] Speaker C: As you've noticed, I'm learning a little magic. Really all I wanted is for you to sit here for a second and listen to me. And I want to cast mage hand and steal Taeman's belt pouch. [00:01:37] Speaker A: Creighton confesses her fairy pact to Boulain in the library. [00:01:42] Speaker D: Creedon like takes this book and while she's reading it she finds a steamy dragonborn romance and puts the book that she's actually reading inside the other book. Throw off this. [00:01:54] Speaker B: You know we are not in a school and there is not a teacher who is going to punish you for reading a book inside of another book. Right? [00:02:02] Speaker C: From across the way, Xeris looks up at both of them and nods. [00:02:06] Speaker D: I don't know what you're talking about. [00:02:09] Speaker A: Creedon attempts to figure out what shady business is going on in the inn run by Slimeleg the fairy goblin for coin Lord Traffron beach crown and mostly fails. But that comes up today. [00:02:21] Speaker D: So you're tight with old Slimeleg here? [00:02:24] Speaker A: Yeah, I think he's sweet on me. [00:02:30] Speaker D: I could see that. Did you do any work for him. [00:02:35] Speaker A: Or anything or just despite all their prep, the party walks into an ambush and poor max nearly dies and Sadie the raven is discorporated. Alright. A crossbow bolt comes out of nowhere and slams directly into Max's chest. So much damage. [00:02:55] Speaker B: Oh my gosh. Oh shit. Sulane sends Sadie in that direction. [00:03:01] Speaker A: Sadie rounds a corner. A volley of crossbow comes out of the darkness. Sadie. That was very dumb of someone was expecting a. Oh no. [00:03:17] Speaker B: Sadie, I'm so sorry. [00:03:20] Speaker A: And three creepy looking chicken creatures oh, my God. [00:03:25] Speaker B: Why do you bring the chickens after me? Why is it always chickens? [00:03:32] Speaker D: And I'm not going to attempt to jump over these lobsters. [00:03:35] Speaker B: That is out of the question. [00:03:37] Speaker A: Lobster jumping is a new sport that you're inventing right now. [00:03:41] Speaker D: Can I do an inside or something to see if these are aggressive animals? I assume that they are, but I don't just want to fire at some lobsters chilling in an alley. I'm just going to shoot my two beams of Eldridge blast at the dragon. I am out of spells, so I can't try to suggestion her into not running. [00:04:01] Speaker A: So they fought six bandits, three cockatrices, two rust monsters, and a wyvern, all exotic creatures from the distant jungle before the assassins started running. All right, let's start with chasing an assassin. Hi, I'm Nate, and I will be your dungeon master. [00:04:24] Speaker B: Hi, I'm Mandy. I play boulain, the grave domain. Death cleric, pissed as hell. [00:04:29] Speaker D: Hi, I am Claire, and I play Creedon, the unassassinable warlock of love. I don't know if that's a real word. [00:04:42] Speaker B: Unassassinatable. [00:04:44] Speaker D: I feel like this is where the word unassailable could be used. [00:04:47] Speaker B: Unassailable came from. [00:04:49] Speaker A: Don't. [00:04:50] Speaker D: But that means more things. That also means unable to be attacked, and that was not true. [00:04:56] Speaker C: Oh, no, we definitely got attacked. And I'm Robert. I play Zyrus. Just Zyrus. [00:05:01] Speaker A: Bum, bum, bum. Okay, we are starting off in a chase scene. So Miri is quicker than y'all for exactly two reasons. She's running on tiny legs, which isn't helping her, but she got a bit of a head start and appears to have scouted out these alleys ahead of time, rigging various getaway contingency plans, including things like tipping over trash cans and rolling barrels and that sort of shit. Here's what we're going to do. I'm going to basically set up each round. You're going to tell me how you are going to gain the upper hand in that round and then roll an appropriate skill check. I'm going to keep track of these skill checks, and if you do good, you catch them, if you do bad, you don't. This will be easy, and miscellaneous things could happen along the way. [00:05:53] Speaker D: We're so good at sports. [00:05:54] Speaker C: All right, let's go. [00:05:56] Speaker B: Except swimming. We're not very good at swimming. [00:06:00] Speaker A: You turn down a string of alleys and discover that clotheslines have been essentially lowered, creating all of these various trip hazards at about 3ft of height, which Miri has no problem running under. But you all may both have issues with line of sight, tripping and snagging. How are you going to deal with this problem? [00:06:26] Speaker C: My best thought right now is to just barbarian barrel through them and I don't particularly enjoy that skill. So that idea. So I'm just double checking that I don't have something clever. [00:06:39] Speaker B: I think Xeris is the only one that has a blade weapon that's going to just cut through them. [00:06:44] Speaker D: I mean, I have a dagger. [00:06:45] Speaker B: I guess I have a dagger too. [00:06:47] Speaker D: I am trying to think about how I can possibly seduce these sheets with my charisma. [00:06:53] Speaker C: Oh, I did not realize that. I also, I moved 10ft faster than normal people. [00:06:59] Speaker A: That's cool. Everybody else. Yeah, that's helpful. 15 faster than Miri. [00:07:04] Speaker D: I can also use telekinetic to try to pull her 5ft towards us when I can see her. [00:07:09] Speaker B: I mean, I have hold person. As soon as we can see her. I could try to cast that. [00:07:13] Speaker D: I think Creedon wants to Naruto run on top of the clothesline wires like hopping between them. The goal here would be an athletic or not athletics. Acrobatics check. [00:07:23] Speaker A: Okay. I can give you an acrobatics check to try to do some parcour. Yeah, go ahead and roll it for me. I'm going to say parcoring over clotheslines, not terribly dangerous but also not something a normal person could get away with. I'm going to put the DC at twelve for that check. [00:07:40] Speaker D: Credence is no normal person. Oh, baby. That's a 19 total. [00:07:46] Speaker A: Okay. That is one success. [00:07:49] Speaker C: All right. Is it possible to just run through them with my knife out and use athletics to clear it for the other people as well? [00:07:58] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm going to call that an athletics check with the goal of clearing it for others. I'm going to increase the DC a little bit. Cutting through these lines. They are not impressive lines. So I would set that DC at probably ten but because you want to get out ahead of everybody and free them up, let's put it at twelve. Let's get an athletics check. DC. Twelve. [00:08:17] Speaker D: Don't cut my feet. [00:08:18] Speaker C: Okay, I won't reach for that. And I roll the 15 which is a 21. [00:08:22] Speaker A: Okay, that's a success. Mandy. The lines are mostly down. There's laundry just everywhere. You've lost sight of the halfling in this mess. But what are you doing? [00:08:32] Speaker B: I think if the path is clear she's just going to run forward and try to get closer to her. [00:08:38] Speaker A: Okay, give me an athletics. [00:08:39] Speaker B: She wants to get her within her sight. [00:08:41] Speaker A: I will settle for perception then. [00:08:43] Speaker B: Let's do that. Perception. Oh, that's much better. That's a 19 on the dice, which is 25. [00:08:48] Speaker A: Okay. Perception comes with the unfortunate downside of rolling against Miri. [00:08:53] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:08:54] Speaker A: Which you said 25. [00:08:56] Speaker B: 25, okay, that's great. [00:08:58] Speaker A: So you spot Miri. She has made it out of the clotheslines and is essentially across the next street heading into another alley. You know where to go. [00:09:08] Speaker B: Okay. Do I have time to try to do something before she disappears into it? [00:09:12] Speaker A: No, but you did get a success in the skill challenge. [00:09:14] Speaker B: Okay, great. [00:09:16] Speaker A: Heading into the next alley, you realize that this particular alley actually leads directly to the catacombs. And so as you emerge from the alley, there is essentially one turn. So you know where she's gone. But you are in front of the door of the catacombs, which you're all very familiar with, and there is a large pine box just sitting there. It's not blocking the way or anything, but it looks like someone has unceremoniously deposited a customer in front of the door. Off to the right is not really an alleyway, but more of a small street that leads to an actual street. The street is, even at this hour, full of vendors. Now, the vendors aren't open, but there's all these wrapped up stalls and things that are blocking the way and Miri is sort of darting between them. What are you doing? [00:10:06] Speaker C: I mean, I will just continue to chase her. If there's no pattern to what she's. [00:10:10] Speaker B: Doing, I'm going to chase her. [00:10:12] Speaker A: Okay. She's running away through things, so giving chase. Xeris give me athletics. Boulain athletics. [00:10:19] Speaker B: Actually, Boulain will try to take as direct a path. She figures Mary's zigzagging to get herself lost, and if she's heading for the catacombs, Boulain's going to try to take a more direct path. [00:10:30] Speaker A: Okay. [00:10:31] Speaker B: And gain some ground on her. [00:10:32] Speaker A: If you wish, you can roll survival. [00:10:34] Speaker B: Okay. [00:10:35] Speaker A: To better navigate this part of the city than Miri. [00:10:39] Speaker B: That's not great. That's an eleven. [00:10:41] Speaker A: Okay. [00:10:41] Speaker C: I got a twelve for my athletics check. [00:10:43] Speaker A: Okay. What are you doing, Creedon? [00:10:45] Speaker D: Do any of the bodegas have round fruit or something that could potentially be slippery should they be placed upon your feet? [00:10:52] Speaker A: Yes, 100% definitely true. [00:10:54] Speaker D: Can Creedon try to Eldridge blast one of the bodegas that has round stuff in it and create, like, caltrips for Mary? [00:11:02] Speaker A: Roll me an arcana to use magic to manipulate the environment? [00:11:08] Speaker D: Well, that's a seven because I rolled a four. [00:11:12] Speaker A: Okay. [00:11:12] Speaker D: I blew up somebody's bodega. [00:11:14] Speaker A: Rough trip through the alley. Boulain. One thing of note, as you dart by the catacombs, you do see a woman sitting next to this coffin. She was kind of tucked behind it, but she just watches you all run by. [00:11:28] Speaker B: Be back in a minute. [00:11:30] Speaker A: Okay. Miri heads towards the docks. This is just a straightaway down the main street thoroughfare. Even at this time of night, there are lots of boisterous drunks out roaming the street on their way home. So you have to contend with crowds of people, not a ton of them. Like, this isn't Mardi Gras, but there are groups of them and she is specifically running through them. And she's a halfling, so she's better at that than you probably are. [00:11:55] Speaker D: Finally, charisma time. Can we see her? [00:11:57] Speaker A: Sure. Yeah, you can see her. [00:11:58] Speaker B: Okay. I want to cast hold person on her roll. [00:12:02] Speaker A: Arcana. [00:12:03] Speaker B: Come on. That's pretty good. [00:12:07] Speaker A: 1515. Okay. You cast a spell at her, she's going to roll a saving throw. You get a success on the challenge, but let me see if this is enough to knock us out of the skill challenge. [00:12:19] Speaker B: She needs a 15. [00:12:20] Speaker A: It is not. She gets a 23. [00:12:23] Speaker B: Ah. [00:12:24] Speaker C: Okay. [00:12:24] Speaker B: Slippery bitch. [00:12:25] Speaker C: Yeah. I will use my persuasion and shout loudly. Five gold to anyone who catches the halfling. [00:12:32] Speaker B: Nice. [00:12:34] Speaker A: Okay. I think that is reasonable. They're a little drunk, so the reaction is going to be kind of slow. Let's put it at a 14 because you got to get through to them. Sure. [00:12:43] Speaker C: I rolled an 18 on the die, which will give me 23 on the challenge. [00:12:47] Speaker B: Equalizing the public. [00:12:49] Speaker A: People start to chase her. She tries running faster. That's not a great plan. She quickly ends up in a bit of a scuffle, you might say. Creedon, bring us home. [00:12:59] Speaker D: Creedon would like to try to pull her towards us. Telekinetic, I guess an arcana check. [00:13:04] Speaker A: I think Arcana is the most appropriate skill for telekinesis. [00:13:08] Speaker D: Yeah, it's basically a mage hand bonus. Essentially. [00:13:12] Speaker A: Sure. Give it a shot. [00:13:14] Speaker B: Oh, no. One. [00:13:16] Speaker D: Really good roll. And now it's all downhill from here. That is six this time. [00:13:19] Speaker A: Okay. You grab one of the drunks and hurl them accidentally off Miri, somewhat aiding her in her attempt to get away from them. [00:13:29] Speaker D: Sorry. [00:13:30] Speaker A: Miri takes this opening and jumps down a open manhole cover. So boulain, you're familiar enough with Turtle Bay. You know that it's not a sewer she's going into. She is essentially dropping below the docks and the pier. That form this whole lower part of the city. So she's probably running on real dirt now instead of wooden planks or cobblestone roads, basically built up on a platform. [00:14:00] Speaker B: Do I know what's down there? Is there a guild down there or is that something she would know? [00:14:05] Speaker A: Roll me history, please. See if I can give you information before you jump in. This 1313 under the docks is a common smuggler's way. You are very likely to encounter pirates. There's nothing to be afraid of, per se, except sea life and falling on rocks and drowning, the normal things. [00:14:25] Speaker C: How thick is the floor here? [00:14:27] Speaker A: So it is basically like railroad ties make the main level of this part of the city. So we're talking. I don't know, what's a railroad tie? Eight inches of wood. [00:14:38] Speaker C: Not something too easily smashed with effort. [00:14:41] Speaker A: I mean, it's meant to have carts rolled over it and stuff, but. [00:14:45] Speaker C: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. [00:14:46] Speaker A: It isn't necessarily going to stand up to an axe all that great, but. [00:14:50] Speaker D: Creighton doesn't have a great idea for. [00:14:52] Speaker A: This one, so you could go down the manhole cover. It's not covered. It's still just a hole in the walkway. [00:14:57] Speaker B: Yeah, I think Boulain's just going to try to go down the manhole cover. [00:15:00] Speaker A: Okay, Boulain, you see her again. It is very dark down here. There are no streetlights. You see lots of things just off in the distance. Forming alleyways isn't the right word, but there's just a crap ton of obstacles. It looks like every shop has storage down on this level. So there's just a ton of barrels and crates and rope and all sorts of things. Go ahead and roll me a perception check just while you're here. [00:15:26] Speaker B: That's an 18. [00:15:27] Speaker A: Okay, great. I'm going to keep that in mind as you move forward. [00:15:30] Speaker B: Okay. Can I see her? She's in sight. [00:15:32] Speaker A: You can see a dark cloaked figure of appropriate height. [00:15:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I do have dark vision, so I can see better down here. [00:15:39] Speaker A: Yeah, that helps. You can see her. She's running basically over some rocks toward the water. [00:15:45] Speaker C: I use athletics to drop down and keep up as best I can. [00:15:49] Speaker A: Okay, go ahead and give me athletic cirrus. It's uneven ground, so I'm going to make the DC 14. [00:15:54] Speaker C: Yeah, no problem. I rolled a nat one. [00:15:56] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:15:57] Speaker A: I'm going to give you advantage because you are almost twice as fast as Miri thanks to your barbarian speed. [00:16:03] Speaker C: Okay, well, that got me to a total of a twelve. [00:16:05] Speaker A: Okay, twelve is not horrible. [00:16:07] Speaker C: But it's not a 14. [00:16:09] Speaker A: Still not a success, but not a natural one. It's all right. You guys are still doing okay. [00:16:13] Speaker D: Creedon Creighton wants to go down the manhole cover and assuming that she can see Mary, I guess I want to try to do an arcana again to minor illusion. A crate that she's running towards to look like it's not there. Like essentially make it look like what I would expect the background to be. Hopefully she will run into it. [00:16:33] Speaker A: Oh, hilarious. Okay, give me an Arcana roll. She's not going to have time to quote unquote, inspect something to her intelligence save. [00:16:41] Speaker D: Oh, my God, I got another four. [00:16:43] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:16:44] Speaker A: Okay, you put it up to the right and she goes left. And you don't think it was her conscious decision. You just chose the wrong direction. [00:16:51] Speaker D: I am rolling so bad. [00:16:52] Speaker B: How far away is she at this point? [00:16:54] Speaker A: Just about 60ft. [00:16:56] Speaker B: Okay, Boulain is going to cast guiding bolt on her. [00:16:59] Speaker A: Go ahead and roll, Arcana. You are going to literally attack her. [00:17:03] Speaker B: Oh, that's okay. See, I only get a plus 119. [00:17:07] Speaker A: Okay, yeah, you definitely rock her world with a massive blast that sends her sprawling into the waterfront. You run over the rocks, down to the water and you realize. [00:17:19] Speaker B: Do you want me to roll the damage on that? [00:17:21] Speaker A: No need. Skill challenge, action sequence. It's not enough to kill her. So you are running over these rocks towards the end and you pass several human sized cages with human sized people in them. [00:17:34] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:17:34] Speaker A: One of them screams, you gotta get me out of here. Creedin, the drunken slur is something you recognize from just a little while ago at the inn. [00:17:43] Speaker B: Well, he got Shanghai. [00:17:45] Speaker D: Well, I mean, he's not my problem right now. Let him out in a minute. [00:17:50] Speaker B: Also, I don't know if we want to poke the bear on a slave trade right now when we've already got assassins on our asses. [00:17:56] Speaker D: That's true. [00:17:57] Speaker A: In fairness, you are on the assassin's ass right now. [00:18:01] Speaker B: Yes, we are, but Creighton would not. [00:18:03] Speaker D: Feel great about human trafficking. I think. [00:18:05] Speaker A: So. Miri has hit the water. She's glowing from the guiding bolt spell and is trying to swim away from you down underwater. [00:18:13] Speaker B: Oh, the next attack on her gets advantage. I don't know if that matters in a chase scene. [00:18:18] Speaker A: Technically it doesn't, but we'll see what we can do. What are you doing? [00:18:21] Speaker C: Trying to figure out how to apply religion to the circumstance and I just can't. [00:18:25] Speaker A: You could pray for a miracle. [00:18:27] Speaker D: Okay, this is foolhardy, but Creedon wants to use her dagger to cut her own hands so that she can use Misty escape, which is where I can teleport if I take damage and I want to try to teleport to where she is, it's within 60ft of me. And wrestle her in the water. [00:18:45] Speaker A: Interesting. [00:18:46] Speaker D: So I don't know what that would be. [00:18:48] Speaker A: That's creative couple skills that this could call for. You can use athletics to wrestle her in the water. [00:18:54] Speaker D: Yeah, I don't want to do that. It's foolhardy. [00:18:57] Speaker A: You can use a constitution check to essentially injure yourself. [00:19:02] Speaker D: I'll take that. [00:19:03] Speaker A: You could use an arcana check to manipulate the teleport. I think those are your three choices. [00:19:11] Speaker D: Let's do constitution. Since my arcana checks have not been. [00:19:15] Speaker B: Going well, I'm using a different dice this time. [00:19:19] Speaker D: Oh, my God. I got another four. This is impossible. This is so possible. I have rolled three fours in a row and a three in my last four rolls. [00:19:31] Speaker B: Oh, man. [00:19:31] Speaker D: Not quite in a row. [00:19:33] Speaker B: Are you changing dice? [00:19:34] Speaker D: I did change dice. [00:19:35] Speaker A: Four is the number. Who else do we. [00:19:37] Speaker B: Okay, okay, I have a question. [00:19:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:41] Speaker B: So Creedon has teleported herself to Miri. [00:19:44] Speaker A: Yeah. So there's a loud splash. [00:19:45] Speaker D: I'm probably drowning. [00:19:46] Speaker A: Creedon lands in the water on some rocks. It doesn't look great. Miri seems to be swimming away. [00:19:52] Speaker B: Okay, so it didn't stop Miri in her tracks at all? No, but I can still see her. [00:19:57] Speaker A: You can see Miri glowing under the water. [00:19:59] Speaker C: I'm just going to keep up with my superior athletics. [00:20:01] Speaker A: Okay. You also have a superior swim speed thanks to your bonus speed, so I'm going to give you advantage. [00:20:07] Speaker C: Okay. 23. [00:20:09] Speaker A: Damn. Okay, you are much faster than her and are gaining rapidly. Great. And Boulain, I'm going to cast toll. [00:20:17] Speaker B: The dead on her. [00:20:18] Speaker A: Okay, this is going to be an attack. I'm going to say you can roll religion roll since it's a priest spell. Exclusive priest spell. [00:20:28] Speaker B: That is a 21. [00:20:30] Speaker A: 21. Okay. That is our 10th success. It was a race to ten. The final score was ten to six. So you told the dead. The bell chimes underwater. You see a plume of blood as Miri begins to cough due to the necrotic damage she has just suffered and that slows her down. Xeris, you have Miri. [00:20:51] Speaker C: Are we still skilling or we. [00:20:53] Speaker A: Nope. You have won the skill challenge. You have Miri. You've grabbed her. She seems to have lost probably all of the poisons and the weapons during the course of this chase, I will. [00:21:03] Speaker C: Grab her with one arm and swim to shore with the other. And every so often I will stop and rifle through her pockets for money. [00:21:13] Speaker A: Okay. Miri has a large emerald worth 500 gold. [00:21:18] Speaker D: Oh my God. [00:21:19] Speaker C: Yoink. All right. [00:21:21] Speaker D: Creighton awkwardly flails in the water. Some. She has forgotten that her gothic frock is rather heavy when it gets wet and is rather embarrassed at everything that's just happened. [00:21:32] Speaker C: And then I will just drag her to shore. [00:21:35] Speaker A: Okay. [00:21:35] Speaker B: Yeah. When Zuris gets back to shore with Mary, Boulain will walk right up to her and grab her and cast inflict wounds on her. Brutal. [00:21:45] Speaker A: Okay. [00:21:45] Speaker B: She's mad. [00:21:46] Speaker D: Oh yeah. [00:21:47] Speaker B: Sadie, you want me to roll for that? Are we still. [00:21:50] Speaker A: You have no problems touching her because Cirrus is holding her. So just roll your damage ten necrotic. Okay. Yeah, she squirms a little bit. I think she says something along the lines of you're a monster. [00:22:02] Speaker C: Oh, okay. Well, I mean, if we're doing this. [00:22:04] Speaker B: Do not speak to me of monsters. [00:22:07] Speaker C: If we're doing this and you are guilty of assault and I'll break her neck. [00:22:12] Speaker A: Okay, done. [00:22:13] Speaker D: We don't want to question her at all. [00:22:15] Speaker B: I wasn't going to kill her. [00:22:17] Speaker A: That's not what that looks like. Go ahead and give me an athletics versus athletics. Sure. [00:22:27] Speaker D: Sheer strength of her neck. [00:22:28] Speaker C: That's a natural 20. [00:22:30] Speaker B: Mary's dead. [00:22:33] Speaker A: I got a two. [00:22:39] Speaker B: She's a wee little thing. [00:22:41] Speaker A: Serious? [00:22:42] Speaker C: Yeah, I bane break her in half. [00:22:45] Speaker A: Well, and also Boulain beat the shit out of her in the course of that. [00:22:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I really did. And I'm not sorry. [00:22:53] Speaker A: She only had a few hit points left. Yeah, so quick. And she balls limb to the ground. [00:22:59] Speaker C: I didn't think we were killing her. But you attacked her, so there you go. [00:23:03] Speaker B: I was not going to kill her. Oh, I was just angry. [00:23:07] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm angry too. I'm glad we got that out. That was some bullshit. [00:23:15] Speaker B: That was elaborate for someone with one day of planning. [00:23:19] Speaker A: Very do you think? [00:23:20] Speaker C: And I tried to give her a chance to talk and she refused. [00:23:22] Speaker B: So Vulhank puts her out on the side and then she's going to turn Miri over on her stomach and she's going to expose her back. [00:23:29] Speaker A: Okay, done. [00:23:31] Speaker B: She got anything on her back? [00:23:32] Speaker A: There's several small tattoos you recognize, the religious symbol of divine hammer. [00:23:41] Speaker B: But none of the others. [00:23:43] Speaker A: None of the others seem to make any sense to you. They look like math diagrams. [00:23:47] Speaker D: Maybe I was hoping a heart that says mom on it. [00:23:50] Speaker A: You can roll history if you'd like. [00:23:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I'd like to roll history. [00:23:54] Speaker C: I'll help. [00:23:55] Speaker B: Well, that's an 18, which is a 19. [00:23:58] Speaker A: There is a structural diagram of a. [00:24:01] Speaker C: Lock that makes sense. [00:24:03] Speaker B: Wait. Lock is in a lock you unlock or lock is in the lock on the river. [00:24:07] Speaker A: The lock on the river. [00:24:08] Speaker D: Okay, that's cool. [00:24:10] Speaker C: Both make sense. [00:24:11] Speaker B: All right. Is she light enough that Boulain can carry her? [00:24:14] Speaker A: Yes. Okay. [00:24:15] Speaker B: Boulane will pick her up, and without a word, she's just going to head back to the funeral parlor to both see Tamiri's body and also to see who's waiting outside the door. [00:24:26] Speaker C: I will join. [00:24:27] Speaker D: Creden will tap Xeris on the shoulder and say, can you help me release these people under these docks? [00:24:35] Speaker C: Okay, sure. We'll let Belain walk the streets alone while we're worried about assassins. [00:24:43] Speaker D: Okay, well, then, can we all go do it? I mean, look, I need a win here. [00:24:48] Speaker C: All right, here's what I would like to do. I would prefer to talk with the person prior to potentially disrupting their lawful property. [00:24:58] Speaker D: I mean, is human trafficking legal? [00:25:01] Speaker B: So, blue lane turns around, and her face is very weary at this point, and she says, human trafficking is not legal. It is the work of probably one of the coin lords. We have already pissed off another coin lord who has sent assassins after us. We are in no position to do anything about their slave trade right now. [00:25:18] Speaker C: So, with that information, Creedon, what would you like to do? [00:25:21] Speaker D: Creedon will release a big sigh. You see a little pop up in the corner that says, creedon will remember this. Then Creedon concedes, we can go where you want to go. [00:25:32] Speaker B: Billy looks at Creedon with some sympathy, and she says, I understand the desire to do the right thing, Creedon, but this is a pathway to be dead before sunrise. Man, no wonder divine mercy won't give her no powers. [00:25:43] Speaker D: She's going. She's going with you. [00:25:46] Speaker A: So you walk back through the streets. Actually, no one really blinks an eye at you. Carrying a body, that's normal? No, I mean, it kind of is. Honestly, they're not usually dead, but, yeah. [00:26:00] Speaker B: I mean, she is in full death priest gear. [00:26:03] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, that's a little weird, but no one's going to challenge a church official carrying someone home amongst the drunks at night. [00:26:11] Speaker C: The fact that you're officially dressed while you do it is the weird part. [00:26:19] Speaker B: All right. Back to the funeral parlor. [00:26:29] Speaker A: Welcome, apprentices. This land has many races of creatures in it. In the beginning of time, there were, of course, only two or so, the fay and the humans. One crafted by the luminous one, the other by the radiant one. Some argue the dragons crafted by the green man should be considered the third. But the predominant opinion is actually they are simply pinnacle among beasts. In historic times, it was felt that this side of the realm, the mortal side, belonged entirely to man and beast. But through the guidance of Astragarian Contessa, we have learned that this world is meant to be shared, and learned to understand the plight of the fairy descendant races. We only ask that when they come to this land, they worship the gods of this land. Let's talk about the fairy races. Elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, orcs, many others have fled the fay realm for the mortal realm. They accepted aging in death in this exchange for breaking themselves from the rule of eternal knowledge and eternal cycle and those first born of the luminous one. You see, the fay realm is built upon a perpetual collection of agreements that simply do not expire unless specified. These rules give the oldest of the fay the greatest power, those we call the arch Fay. They rule the land with an iron fist or other mystical appendage, all below them. As one might treat serfs or pets. Enlightened by Astragarian Contessa, we now also see the failure in a system of servitude based on the status of one's birth, and have banished the nobility for merit. If you believe that you are here, you are where you are because you earned it. It stands to reason the fay descended races that are now mortal also earned it. And so we measure their worth, just as we measure everyone else's, by the strength of their connection to the gods. In the early days, when the fay races fled through the various portals to mortal realms, resources were quite scarce and fairy magic was more powerful and more influential. At the moment, some tried to set themselves up as gods themselves among mortals, attempting to create an archfey class again in this realm. Though, such efforts were short lived, as death ends everything in the mortal realm eventually. Instead, Minnie brought with them new ideas of gods, adopting and adapting the local religious structures to match the ideas that they had brought with them from the fairy realm. Dwarves are a particularly interesting case, as they believed in a creature called moradin, a sort of all powerful creator God who industriously toiled, much like divine hammer, to craft every aspect of society, including lesser gods and the world itself. When the great prophet returned from their sojourn to the divine realm, they revealed that Morin was in fact divine hammer by another name, and that the dwarves were actually created, like all things in the fay realm, by first the luminous one, and then a collection of odd agreements that bound their physical form. If you subscribe to them as completely separate from the fae, then their true creator was likely an arch fay who bound their lineage through some type of agreement to aid them in their labors. No doubt self servingly. The dwarven goddess of death was found to be the silent judge. But most of the rest of the pantheon was either angelic beings, souls forged into powerful shapes to aid the gods temporarily, or a few archfae still attempting to control those who had fled them. Today, all dwarves have accepted the rule of the empire and the certainty of our divine pantheon, and now represent honored members of our community every bit as dedicated to the gods as we are. The Fay races are now our brothers and sisters. Treat them as the family. They are now back to work apprenticeship. You arrive at the funeral party, there's a fresh pine box with a woman sitting on it, and she stands up and says, is everything okay? [00:30:49] Speaker B: Absolutely not. Give me a moment. She gets the new key out for the funeral parlor and unlocks it and says, come. [00:30:56] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. And she grabs one side of the pine box and starts muscling it in. [00:31:01] Speaker B: Cirrus, will you help her, please? [00:31:03] Speaker C: Yes. I pick up the box for her. [00:31:06] Speaker A: So you could pick up half of the box pretty easily. It's actually not terribly heavy. It's just awkward. And the woman is odly ripped. [00:31:15] Speaker D: Nice. [00:31:16] Speaker A: Yeah, she's beefy. [00:31:18] Speaker C: I'm going to look at her with some perceptive, angry eyes. Sure, because this sounds like another assassin we're worried about. [00:31:27] Speaker B: I don't think Boulain has the wherewithal to even think, to question that somebody has turned up with a body. This happens to her all the time. [00:31:35] Speaker D: That would be a good way to get you. [00:31:37] Speaker C: Yep, that's a six. She's fine. She passes. [00:31:41] Speaker A: She's dressed like a dock hand. You guess she moves boxes for a living because she's moving this one. [00:31:47] Speaker C: Yep. [00:31:47] Speaker B: She's got some beastie in there. Boulain will head back to the workrooms area so she can lay Mary on a slab. [00:31:56] Speaker A: Done. [00:31:57] Speaker B: She's gonna talk to this woman before she goes about the death rites, but comes back out and says, all right. How may I help you? Do you have a name? [00:32:06] Speaker A: Yeah, Dora. Dora Theodore. [00:32:08] Speaker D: Uh oh. [00:32:09] Speaker B: Boulain trades a look with Creedon and Zuris. Well, I am Boulain. You have a body. [00:32:15] Speaker A: I do? Yeah. The remains of. [00:32:19] Speaker C: Mm hmm. That's what I was thinking. [00:32:21] Speaker A: Imstin Dreolin. [00:32:22] Speaker B: How did she die? [00:32:24] Speaker A: Old age, I'm guessing. [00:32:26] Speaker B: When? [00:32:28] Speaker A: About 3 hours ago. Probably. [00:32:30] Speaker B: All right, I'm going to roll in sight to see if she's lying. [00:32:33] Speaker A: Sure. [00:32:34] Speaker B: Oh, that's a five plus six is eleven. [00:32:37] Speaker A: I mean, she hasn't given any reason to detect a lie. [00:32:42] Speaker B: Okay. But she's brought Emston's body, and I just opened the door and let them ride in. She looks at Dora and says, forgive me. I have no reason to trust you or Emsten, even after she is supposedly dead. Xeris, can you get the box back outside? [00:32:56] Speaker C: I drag the box back outside. [00:32:59] Speaker A: She'll grab half the box to help and set it down outside and say, okay. [00:33:03] Speaker B: And then boulang ushers Creedon, also outside, closes and locks the door and says, open the box. [00:33:09] Speaker A: She bends down and yanks a loose nail and shifts part of the lid off the box and there's a very desiccated looking old woman. [00:33:21] Speaker B: All right. She's going to cast gentle repose on the desiccated old woman. [00:33:26] Speaker A: Okay. [00:33:27] Speaker B: And that has a ten day duration. [00:33:28] Speaker A: Okay. [00:33:29] Speaker B: She looks back at zerus and Creedon and shrugs a little bit and says, she will not be getting back up for ten days. [00:33:36] Speaker C: So you've just been waiting here? [00:33:39] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I brought the coffin over a couple of hours ago. The door is not usually locked, so I was planning on leaving it in the funeral parlor, but since it was locked, I thought I'd just wait. And then you all ran by. Seemed like you had a reason to have the door locked. [00:33:58] Speaker D: Can Creighton check this person for any interesting and familiar looking weapons you can roll? [00:34:06] Speaker A: Perception. [00:34:07] Speaker B: Cool. [00:34:07] Speaker D: That thing I sometimes wish I put any points into. Oh, my God. That's the three impossible. [00:34:13] Speaker B: Are you changing, dice? Is this the same die? [00:34:15] Speaker D: No. I'm sorry, dice. I don't know. I have a curse. I have a curse inflicted upon me. [00:34:21] Speaker B: Julie's curse hit you. I mean, law of averages says if you go back to the old dice, they should start rolling better. [00:34:28] Speaker C: Dice drop. You see, after a big event, your dice are overtaxed. There's a lot of chemicals going on. [00:34:36] Speaker A: She's got a boot knife that's obviously visible. The same sort of things you'd see on any sailor or deck hand, but nothing special. So do I need to sign anything? I'm not sure how the rules work here in Turtle Bay. Nothing seems to work how I expect it to. [00:34:55] Speaker B: I will need to get the form and come back. Give me a moment. And she will go back into the funeral parlor using the right key, and she will get some cursory death forms, usually the ones for I mean, she can fill in some information about Emston, but she just needs to say that she received the body and who she received it from and the time of death and all that. So she's essentially going to speed do a death certificate for Emston and then come out and have Dora sign it. [00:35:21] Speaker A: She picks it up and looks at it and goes, oh, okay, well, at least this is how it's supposed to be. She signs it, hands it back to you. You realize Dora has signed it with her official title as a priest of the silent judge. [00:35:37] Speaker B: You are new to the order. [00:35:39] Speaker A: Yeah, been here about two years. I was supposed to replace someone for a sudden sabbatical or whatever, and then I ended up locked in a warehouse. [00:35:49] Speaker B: Locked in a warehouse? [00:35:51] Speaker D: Yeah, I'd like to cast insight on that. [00:35:53] Speaker B: Yeah, me too. [00:35:54] Speaker D: Not cast. Roll. [00:35:55] Speaker A: I mean, you can cast your dice. [00:35:57] Speaker D: I am going to cast my dice towards reading less suck. Maybe. [00:36:02] Speaker B: I got a 23. Okay. [00:36:05] Speaker D: Jesus Christ. I've finally broken the curse. Okay. [00:36:09] Speaker B: Insight. [00:36:11] Speaker D: That is a 22. [00:36:12] Speaker A: You both expect that. There must be a whole shit ton more to this story than has been said. [00:36:17] Speaker B: Like, she hasn't lied, but she hasn't said at all either. [00:36:20] Speaker A: There is no universe where that is the full story, period. You have every right to be skeptical. You have not been told what actually happened. [00:36:29] Speaker B: We were told that Dora was Emsten's apprentice. Right. Isn't that what, Morris? [00:36:34] Speaker A: That Dora was Emsten's apprentice? [00:36:36] Speaker B: Yes. And that they traveled from Astragar together. [00:36:39] Speaker A: You were also told that. Yes. And that no one has seen Dora in a couple months. [00:36:43] Speaker B: Also that she hasn't been a priest for two years. Dora, were we given timeline when she left the ship? That she was a pirate on? [00:36:51] Speaker A: You were told she left a ship? Yes. [00:36:54] Speaker B: We weren't told. How long ago? [00:36:55] Speaker A: No, you were told. Former pirate. [00:36:58] Speaker D: We did hear that she's wearing the pirating clothes again, though. [00:37:01] Speaker B: Well, dockhand might be close enough to. [00:37:04] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:37:04] Speaker B: You said she's dressed like a dockhand. [00:37:06] Speaker A: Yeah, at the moment, Boulain will say. [00:37:08] Speaker B: Why are you dressed as a dockhand? [00:37:10] Speaker A: It's the clothes they had in the warehouse. [00:37:12] Speaker B: What happened to your clothes? [00:37:14] Speaker A: Well, I was in a small space for a long time, so I changed out of them and into whatever they had and washed things. I was living out of a warehouse. [00:37:23] Speaker D: What's going on in this? [00:37:27] Speaker A: Don't. Imston was there. She was preparing some sort of big ritual. There was a lot of herb prepping. [00:37:34] Speaker C: All right, Dora, look, do you care about the sanctity of death as your order does? [00:37:41] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. [00:37:42] Speaker C: I would love to incite that. [00:37:45] Speaker A: Sure. [00:37:46] Speaker C: That's a. Okay, great. [00:37:47] Speaker B: So I could help you. [00:37:50] Speaker A: Okay. [00:37:51] Speaker B: Boulain will cock her head to the side and say, what is your take on the practice of confessing sins as a final act versus confessing secrets? And we'll also roll insight on our answer. [00:38:04] Speaker A: Pretty ambivalent on either one, actually. I see my duty as a priest of the silent judge to reassure the living by preserving the sanctity of death. People can confess whatever they wish. It's not really my job to do anything with that information. Imston seemed really into that part of it, if it matters. [00:38:23] Speaker C: So I'm just going to double check my memory, because it's been a while since we've talked about this. Imston was heading the whole dragon turtle ritual, right? [00:38:34] Speaker B: Yes. [00:38:36] Speaker C: All right, great. [00:38:36] Speaker A: As far as you were able to determine. [00:38:38] Speaker B: And she more or less confessed to cretan disguises Boulain that she was a follower of Vecna. [00:38:45] Speaker D: Yeah, I mean, pretty much straight up was pissed off that the current society had killed the old gods. [00:38:52] Speaker C: Great. Okay. Imston was, by her own admission to us, going to violate the sanctity of death. And if you know anything about that, it would make this encounter go a lot easier if you told us what you know of Imston's dealings. [00:39:11] Speaker A: You can roll either persuasion or intimidate. I'm not sure where that landed. It's right in the middle. [00:39:17] Speaker C: I will roll pretimidate. They're the same. So I will go the persuasion route to start. That's a 15, she says. [00:39:26] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I can tell you quite a bit of stuff she wanted me to carry on her. I don't know, legacy is the word. So I got quite a bit of coaching, actually. [00:39:38] Speaker B: Towards her heresy or towards actually serving the silent judge? [00:39:42] Speaker A: Oh, no, towards her heresy. I mostly learned what I know about the silent judge service in Astragar. [00:39:49] Speaker C: So you're going to continue her? [00:39:52] Speaker A: No, you misunderstand. She wanted me to continue her heresy, but she died, and I took the keys out of her pocket and I left. But I brought her here because she's dead. And this is where we take care of that sort of thing. [00:40:08] Speaker D: Look, we know that you have a rather checkered past running around with a. Well, what is often viewed as a terrorist in Turtle Bay. We don't have a lot of reason to trust you here. [00:40:22] Speaker A: Yeah, okay. She looks around this alley street that you're standing in and says, do you want to take us inside? [00:40:30] Speaker D: Are we not inside? [00:40:32] Speaker A: No. You brought the coffin back. Told her you didn't dress. [00:40:34] Speaker B: Boulain did not want body or apprentice in the funeral home again after what they did. [00:40:40] Speaker A: I mean, do you want to go inside? Or we could. [00:40:43] Speaker B: No. [00:40:44] Speaker A: Okay. [00:40:44] Speaker C: Maybe a bar, then. [00:40:46] Speaker A: Look, well, they're all closed at this juncture. Well, I mean, not all of them, but the ones you actually want to be in are closed. Yeah. So, as a kid, I was a little wild. I definitely did run with some pirates for a bit, but my bestie ended up dead in one of those things that pirates do, fights. Anyway, I got a lot out of the funeral, and I decided that maybe I was done being a pirate and I could run ceremonies to ease the pain of the living. And my first assignment was just to come down here and cover for a couple of weeks for someone named Boulain. And that's what I was going to do. But instant came along, and by the time we got here, she espoused some really od ideas. And, I mean, I didn't know. I mean, I knew better, but I didn't know better, so I didn't challenge her on it. I mean, God, she's like, 800 years old or something. But anyway, we got down here, and she said she had friends, and I ended up locked in a warehouse. [00:41:40] Speaker D: So you were held against your will? [00:41:42] Speaker A: I mean, yeah, you could call it that. [00:41:46] Speaker C: What would you call it? [00:41:47] Speaker B: Were you held against your will or not? [00:41:49] Speaker A: I mean, okay, I wasn't going to kill an old woman, nor was I going to piss off half the House guard of one of the coin lords, so. Was I held against my will? Yeah. I mean, I could have gotten out, I think, if I really meant to, but I didn't. [00:42:07] Speaker D: Who else was using this warehouse? [00:42:10] Speaker A: Who else did you see, Imston? Six to eight bodyguards, three or four regular beat guards, ten to twelve dock hands, some kind of exotic materials expert apothecary person. [00:42:26] Speaker C: Sounds about right. [00:42:27] Speaker A: Anyway, they were really busy tonight. They were loading in some boxes from Sternheim. [00:42:33] Speaker B: From Sternheim? [00:42:35] Speaker A: Yeah, a bunch of boxes just arrived from Sternheim. [00:42:37] Speaker D: Oh, no. Is it the dragon? [00:42:39] Speaker B: No, the dragon got ground into dust. Oh, yeah, that was pretty explicit instructions about that. [00:42:46] Speaker A: You left instructions to grind the bones into bone dust? [00:42:53] Speaker D: We saw them doing this. They just brought a different corpse to raise them into bone dust. You know, Nate, we followed your plan. Let us have this. [00:43:06] Speaker C: It's pretty good. [00:43:08] Speaker B: Fucking yikes. [00:43:09] Speaker D: Well, at least we're planning on exploding those bones tomorrow. [00:43:13] Speaker B: We're planning on exploding the bones? [00:43:15] Speaker D: Well, I mean, we aren't, but isn't the warehouse supposed to be blown up tomorrow. By dicky? [00:43:20] Speaker B: Yes, Dicky is supposed to. So Boulevard says. Are all the boxes in the warehouse right now? [00:43:26] Speaker A: Some of them, I guess they were, like, divided between a couple coin lords. [00:43:30] Speaker D: Man, this thing goes all the way to the top. [00:43:32] Speaker C: I'm sorry, they were divided between a couple coin lords? [00:43:37] Speaker A: Yeah, I guess. All right, so I lived it here for a number of years, but I'm pretty sure Traffron Beach Crown's guards came and took a couple boxes and left a couple boxes. [00:43:47] Speaker C: But was that not with Traffron's warehouse? [00:43:51] Speaker A: No, we were in. [00:43:55] Speaker C: Yes, that makes sense. Okay, not a problem. [00:43:57] Speaker A: Yes, wait a minute. [00:43:58] Speaker D: But also, couldn't some of this be the explosives that. I'm, like, whispering this to you and not in front of Dora. Couldn't some of this also be Diggy's workings to get explosives into the building? He did not tell us his methods. [00:44:13] Speaker A: Right. We'll hope. [00:44:14] Speaker D: I mean, we don't know for sure. That could be the hope. [00:44:17] Speaker C: We'll find out and we'll know. And it's not tomorrow, it's today. Right, because this is morning of. [00:44:22] Speaker B: We're in the early morning hours. [00:44:23] Speaker D: Okay, so it is today. [00:44:25] Speaker A: It is today. At some point you weren't given a great timeline. [00:44:29] Speaker C: Right. [00:44:30] Speaker A: It turns out terrorists are. [00:44:32] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:44:33] Speaker B: Yes, they are. [00:44:34] Speaker D: Maybe that's the boxes that they left. There are too many parties involved, Dora says. [00:44:42] Speaker A: So here's the deal. I'm out. Clearly, Boulain is back. I'm supposed to report to Astragar. So unless you, as the superior priest of the silent judge, order me to do something, I guess I'm leaving in the morning. [00:44:56] Speaker C: Stay in town. [00:44:57] Speaker B: Yes, stay in town. [00:44:58] Speaker A: Okay, I can do that. [00:44:59] Speaker D: It's unlikely Boulain is here long term. [00:45:02] Speaker A: There's probably some guards looking for me. Do you want to recommend a location? [00:45:07] Speaker C: Yeah. No, never mind. [00:45:09] Speaker A: What? [00:45:09] Speaker B: My house. I don't really want her in my house any more than I want her in the catacomb. [00:45:14] Speaker C: No, I was going to suggest a broker, friend. [00:45:17] Speaker D: We could also possibly see if twelve could keep an eye on her for. [00:45:22] Speaker B: Us for a bit. [00:45:23] Speaker D: Keep her kind of hidden. [00:45:24] Speaker B: All right. Boulain is going to do ascending to twelve and say, are you in the dock? Or are you. What is the word? [00:45:33] Speaker D: Are you in port? [00:45:34] Speaker B: Are you in port? Can you come to the funeral parlor now? [00:45:38] Speaker A: Be there in a minute. You get the impression that she had just laid down to go to sleep? [00:45:43] Speaker D: Probably relatable. [00:45:44] Speaker B: Yeah, I get the feeling the lid's still off. The coffin? [00:45:48] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:45:48] Speaker B: All right. Boulain is going to take out some of her oils and her brazier and incense and she is going to very quickly do a field rights over Emson's body. [00:45:59] Speaker A: Okay. [00:45:59] Speaker B: And ask Dora to help her. And she's going to observe Dora helping her to see if she does shit. [00:46:04] Speaker A: Right. Yeah. Let me roll Dora a dice to see how well she does. [00:46:09] Speaker B: And she's going to give her some of the complicated jobs. She's not just like, hand me this or that. She's going to recite this prayer. [00:46:16] Speaker A: Yeah. So Dora knows all the words to the prayers and says them appropriately, but the anointing does not go well. She's struggling with the body in the box. The anointing goes everywhere. [00:46:29] Speaker B: Is she nervous about the body? [00:46:31] Speaker A: Yeah. You think she's nervous? [00:46:34] Speaker B: Okay. [00:46:35] Speaker A: She's not doing a good job. But it's clear that she is trained. [00:46:39] Speaker B: She is trained. Okay, well, we will fumble our way through this anointing and she will say, why are you so nervous, Dora? Have you never done this before? I mean, did you have any idea how many bodies you were going to be dealing with in Turtle Bay? [00:46:56] Speaker A: I was expecting like ten. And slowly. And not in an alley in the middle of the night. [00:47:01] Speaker B: So what is really bothering you, Dora? [00:47:05] Speaker A: I've also never anointed an ancient creepy witch. [00:47:09] Speaker D: Starting to like this one. [00:47:12] Speaker B: Ancient creepy witches die just like everybody else does. [00:47:16] Speaker A: Yeah. This one was on some weird vendetta, though. I don't know. [00:47:21] Speaker B: Can I roll insight on her? Like her? If this is real misgivings? [00:47:25] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:47:26] Speaker B: That is a 24. [00:47:29] Speaker A: With a 24. You feel that Dorothea feels she is in over her head. She does not feel safe right now. She's pretty sure one of you is a big threat to her. She probably knows a lot more about what Imston was up to than she said. But she seems to be more afraid of you than willing to share it. [00:47:50] Speaker B: Okay, so we will put the lid back on the box and wait for twelve. [00:47:53] Speaker A: So twelve will show up? Yeah. [00:47:55] Speaker B: She show up with anybody? [00:47:56] Speaker A: Hopefully, yeah. I mean, twelve shows up with three people from the ship and they're like, yeah, we're here. What's the emergency? [00:48:02] Speaker B: I apologize, twelve, to have to ask you to do this. I can compensate you. I need you to bury a body viking style at sea. She gestures to the box, done. Fire and all. [00:48:15] Speaker A: Sure. [00:48:16] Speaker B: And if it does not put you out too much, I need you to host this one and protect her. [00:48:21] Speaker A: Yeah, we can do that. Twelve looks at her and rolls ad 20 and says, oh, shit. It's whale eye. Where have you been? And Dora says, yeah, I don't really use that name anymore. I'm like a church official now. And she's like, okay, yeah, sweet. Well, Graham's. We can take care of church official way alley all day long. [00:48:42] Speaker B: Thank you. And she draws her aside and says quietly, we are a bit suspicious of her, but we're not sure under what parameters. So treat her well. Do not let her leave. [00:48:55] Speaker A: Yeah, okay. Thank you. [00:48:57] Speaker D: Cindy, while we were talking to twelve, can Creedon have been doing a ritual cast of detect magic on Emston's body? I know that there will be gentle repose magic on it, but I'm just. [00:49:08] Speaker A: Double checking you'd pick up a couple sources of magic. Only one that you did not expect. There is a bowie knife on the back of Dora that appears to have a silver handle and is very magical. [00:49:23] Speaker D: Can Creighton take it? [00:49:25] Speaker A: That is a question that dice can answer. But first you'll have to tell me how you take it. Is this a subtle thing? Are you trying to pickpocket her bowie knife? [00:49:33] Speaker D: Yeah, I think I'd like to attempt to sleight of hand. [00:49:38] Speaker A: Okay. [00:49:38] Speaker D: I do think that if I'm caught by my party, I can probably explain why I'm doing this, but I kind of don't want to have to. [00:49:45] Speaker A: Yeah, sure. Pull the knife. [00:49:47] Speaker D: That is a 15 to slide of hand. [00:49:50] Speaker A: Okay, I roll a seven. So, yeah, you reach up and pull it right out of the scabbard as she's pulling away and she doesn't seem to notice. [00:49:58] Speaker D: And I'm glad I did. That almost buried my objective. My quest objective at sea. [00:50:06] Speaker B: Wait, no, Dora had the dagger on her, right? [00:50:09] Speaker A: Yeah, Dora had the dagger. [00:50:10] Speaker D: Oh, I thought that was on back of instant. That makes way more sense. [00:50:13] Speaker B: It wasn't on body. [00:50:14] Speaker D: Oh, cool. I still got it off of Dora. That's great. [00:50:17] Speaker A: No, you pulled it off. [00:50:18] Speaker B: Still got her secret weapon off of her. [00:50:20] Speaker D: I have a feeling that that's not the end of that question. I thought I misunderstood. Thought it was on empty. I was like, oh, good, she's dead. [00:50:26] Speaker B: You have probably incapacitated her in some way and that's great. All right, Boulain will compensate twelve for her trouble and send off box and Dora alike. [00:50:37] Speaker A: Okay? [00:50:38] Speaker B: And then she will go back into the catacombs and see to Mary's body. [00:50:41] Speaker C: And I will start resting if we're in the. [00:50:44] Speaker B: Yes, you should probably. [00:50:46] Speaker A: So you all take a nice long nap. [00:50:50] Speaker B: Door's locked. [00:50:51] Speaker A: No one's going to interrupt you the door stays locked. [00:50:55] Speaker C: Big explosion happen. [00:50:58] Speaker D: It is nap o'clock. [00:51:00] Speaker A: Can really just rest. [00:51:02] Speaker B: Do we wake up to an explosion? Is that what's going to happen? [00:51:04] Speaker A: Not one you can hear from where you are. [00:51:06] Speaker B: Okay. [00:51:20] Speaker A: That is our show for today. And here my heroes are just yet again dodging all the action. Don't forget to leave us a rating and review next time. I'll have some behind the scenes cuts for you because they have to wrap up Turtle Bay somehow, despite leaving the exciting conclusion to someone else, we'll find another way to get a sense of closure, I guess.
